What Parents Say

  • “My little girl is the most fantastic little human being you could ever hope to meet. My wife and I would like to think that it is all down to us. However, the truth is that your nursery and staff have played a huge part of that. She absolutely loves attending Treehouse and has made so many friends. I have always found the staff attentive, caring and patient.”

Important Nursery Information

Dental Hygiene

Treehouse Nursery is accredited on the NHS Smile Too Dental Hygiene Scheme. Our staff have been trained in the current NHS guidelines and dental hygiene procedures. We are visited regularly by our NHS Co-ordinator who ensures that our staff are following the NHS guidelines and children are achieving a high standard of dental hygiene. Children are provided with their own brushes and NHS approved toothpaste which are replaced on a regular basis.

Medication

If you wish your child to receive medication during the nursery session you must complete an administration form on a daily basis. The initial dose of any new medication must be administered by parents at home to ensure that there are no side effects or adverse reactions. For further information refer to our Medication policy

Illness

For the health and wellbeing of all children attending Treehouse Nursery your child should not attend nursery if they are suffering from an infectious illness or require a 1:1 ratio. To ensure the health and wellbeing of all our children we have an Infectious disease policy which provides parents with information and guidance in line with local NHS guidelines.

Nursery Cleanliness

Health and well-being of the children is very important to us. To help us maintain high-standards of cleanliness we enlist the services of a professional cleaning agency, who clean the nursery once per term (4 times per year) to hospital standards. The Sanondaf website can be found here

Settling In

Before your child begins full days or sessions at Treehouse Nursery we would recommend that you and your child visit on several occasions for short introductory sessions. This settling period is tailored to each family’s individual needs. You are encouraged to stay with your child until he or she settles after which time we would suggest that you leave for short periods until both you and your child are relaxed and comfortable in the nursery setting. The introductory sessions allow parents to meet with their child’s keyworker and discuss their child’s individual needs, care plan and routine. This sharing of information allows staff to ensure a smooth transition and provide the best possible care for each child.

What to Bring

Depending on our child’s age and stage of development you will need to provide: formula or breast milk, nappies, soft indoor shoes, suitable outdoor clothing and a change of clothes. If your child has a comfort toy, blanket or a dummy you should also bring these to nursery.

Security

A security key pad entry system is placed on the front door to ensure access by authorised persons only. The security code is changed annually. We require notification of who is authorised to collect your child from nursery and these people should be introduced to staff during the settling period. Under no circumstances will a child be allowed to leave the premises unless it is with a previously identified, authorised person. In the event of an emergency situation where parents have to authorise an unknown adult to pick up their child, a personal password and additional information will be required.

Rest Periods

During the settling period, parents will be asked to specify their child’s individual sleep pattern and requirements. Coracles and sleep mats are provided for rest periods and each child is provided with their own bed linen.

Clothing/Personal Property

The Nursery will provide aprons for messy activities. Staff will encourage them to wear the aprons whenever possible however, we would recommend your child does not wear ‘good’ clothes to nursery as accidents can happen. All your child’s belongings should be labelled with their name as it can be difficult for our nursery staff to locate unnamed items. Your child will be allocated a peg to hang their jacket and store their personal belongings.

Additional Needs

If your child requires extra support for any reason, either on a temporary or permanent basis, we will make every effort to provide this support. The nursery staff are experienced at working closely with parents and other professionals such as Health Visitors, Speech and Language Therapists and Paediatricians to help your child reach their full potential.

Parents Evenings

Parents Evenings are held twice a year for all children throughout the nursery. Although the nursery staff are available on a daily basis, this gives you the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and development in a relaxed atmosphere.
